I had an account with PSCU for several years and finally switched to a different bank. Here's what I liked about them: 1) Like any credit union, they don't seem like a gross corporation. 2) Their tellers can be hit or miss, but in general they were very friendly. 3) Labradorite granite counter tops Here's what I didn't like about them: 1) Their website is significantly worse than average. It used to be quite archaic, yet usable. They recently updated it, and went through a transition period of more than a month in which it was barely functional. The authentication redirects to a third party popup that gives the impression the site has been hacked. It made me quite uncomfortable to log in with it, and it didn't have an account picture/phrase like other banks do to verify that everything is legit. I got the impression that their site isn't very secure, and it certainly isn't very professional. If there can be such a huge amount of incompetence in updating their website, I have no faith that my information is secure. Even after all these updates, it still feels archaic and buggy. 2) I asked a teller to set me up with paperless statements, and was told I'd have to do that online. I signed up for paperless statements, yet they continued to send me my statements in the mail--probably another bug in their website. 3) Their mortgage rep for northern Colorado (Colby, if I remember his name correctly) is completely worthless. I wanted to meet with him to discuss whether PSCU would be a good mortgage lender for me. I left multiple voicemails and still hadn't received a response after a couple of weeks. Finally my wife got a hold of him and set up an appointment. I took off work to get there, and he didn't even show up. The manager on staff apologized profusely and promised to make sure the guy would get right back to me. He never did. I'd hope he's been fired by now, but if PSCU is keeping this guy on staff, then they obviously don't care much about the quality of their representatives. 4) I stupidly allowed my checking account to be overdrawn after transferring most of my money to another bank. Luckily, I still had enough money in my savings to cover the amount, and the money was automatically transferred to handle it. However, I got charged $20. I pointed out that I had been a loyal customer for years without a single overdraw and asked them to waive the fee. They refused, pointing out that the fee is normally $30+, so they had already given me a break. While I was standing there at the counter, I literally overheard the next teller over telling their customer that, 'we don't really have any fees here--we're laid back like that.' Anyway, there are a lot of annoying issues that have made me dissatisfied with PSCU for pretty much the entirety of the time I had accounts there, and I now feel a sense of relief at having closed out my accounts. Good riddance.
